Yes, a fig is a fruit, but that isn't exactly the definition we're going for. For our purposes, FiG is an acronym for "Filling in the Gaps." This phrase defines what we at FiG Speakers are trying to accomplish - to fill in the gaps left by traditional education and our past experiences.

What would be your response if you and I were sitting down over a cup of coffee and I were to ask you, "Do you feel that traditional education fully prepared you for life?" Most people would chuckle or shake their heads absentmindedly as they consider how much money they've already lost to their mandatory "continuing education." While most people who taught us had wonderful intentions, we all began "the real world" with gaps in our knowledge and preparation. Most of us are underprepared for the parts of life that tend to need the most preparation - career management, people skills, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the list could go on.

These gaps are our goals. With the FiG Professional Development Platform, we seek to fill those gaps through principle-centered continuing education, through solution-focused coaching and mentoring, and through networking with other professionals who are on similar journeys.
